The aim is to reduce the environmental impact and improve the sustainability of the business.
The Net Zero Business Challenge Fund will provide grants of up to 100% of eligible project costs (excluding VAT), up to a maximum grant award of £15,000 to fund specific activities that drive innovation(s) within the business to develop solutions to reduce their carbon footprint, develop sustainable business models, or develop circular manufacturing/remanufacturing models leading to more companies reaching a carbon neutral or net zero business.
North Lanarkshire Council also offers an Energy Audit Voucher which provides grant funding of up to £2,500 to engage a consultant/expert to undertake either an energy audit of your commercial premises, businesses operations, and/or manufacturing processes.
The Energy Audit Voucher has been designed to gain information on how to best optimise energy usage, reduce costs and improve sustainability of a business’s operations. The Energy Audit Voucher funding will be in addition to the maximum award available through the Net Zero Business Challenge Fund.
The grant is competitive. Successful projects will be those that can demonstrate:
- an increase in revenue
- creation of green jobs
- a greater understanding of businesses carbon accounting and monitoring.
- creation of carbon reduction plans
- demonstrable reduction in operational carbon emissions
- adoption or progression towards the use of circular business models and manufacturing processes
- adoption of ‘new to the firm’ technology or processes
Applications from individuals or organisations working in partnership are also welcome, with funding going to the lead partner.
All applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 10 May 2024. Applications will then be assessed and applicants will be notified by Friday 14 June 2024 at the latest.
