Community Planning in North Lanarkshire
North LanarkshirePartnership ? What is it? The North Lanarkshire Partnership (NLP) was established in 1997 in recognition of the complex and inter-related nature of the issues affecting the area of North Lanarkshire. Its economic, social and environmental problems cannot be solved by a single agency, and a multi-agency approach was therefore needed which is driven by shared strategic objectives, and which can ensure that a linked series of actions are undertaken by the key players. North Lanarkshire Council is the lead partner for community planning and plays a key role in the NLP Board. The Board includes members from:
The Board oversees the activities of the NLP, formed by senior representatives from each organisation. The members of the NLP renewed their commitment to partnership working by signing a new Partnership Agreement in June 2004. This identified the shared strategic objectives on which this co-operation is based.
