Bellshill Family History Centre

In North Lanarkshire we have established a family history centre in Bellshill to assist people who wish to trace their ancestry, discover their roots and create family trees.

Tracing your family history

The Centre has five work stations for use by the public for family history research.

If you want to do your own research you can book a place by telephoning 01698 346780.

You can

  • access Scotland's People website
  • use 'Roots Magic' software to create family trees
  • scan in your family documents and photographs
  • print Scotland's people website images
  • save your documents to a memory stick
  • purchase preprinted family tree posters and/or children's family tree activity posters

We can

  • provide information about your family through research of records held on DI GROS (Digital Imaging of General Register Office for Scotland) events
  • access
    • statutory records of Scottish births, deaths and marriages from 1855
    • divorce records from May 1984
    • old parish records from 1538 to 1854 including
      • births and baptisms
      • banns and marriages
      • deaths and burial
  • use our expertise to produce your family tree
  • scan copies of family documents and photographs you provide
  • collate the findings
  • produce your family history book in a spiral bound format which can be easily extended

Daily rate includes 100 credits for Scotland's People website
