First class facilities for community and pupils

Councillors today (Thursday 15 April) approved plans to create a new £44 million joint campus for St Ambrose High School and Drumpark School.

The new school campus and community centre will include a full range of modern facilities particularly in sport and music. The extensive upgrade in sporting facilities will be a particular benefit to the community.

The development has been sensitively considered in terms of scale, design and materials in keeping with the surrounding area. The campus will be set well back from the road with pitches to the front to ensure a substantial green corridor when entering Coatbridge will be maintained.

It is part of our £250m Schools and Centres 21 programme which will see the replacement and major refurbishments to a number of schools across the area.

The application will now be referred to Scottish Ministers for their consideration, as the council is the landowner and the application is contrary to the approved local plan.
