General Election

Thursday 8 June 2017

The next UK Parliamentary General Election takes place on Thursday 8 June.

There are four constituencies in North Lanarkshire:

  • Airdrie and Shotts
  • Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill
  • Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East*
  • Motherwell and Wishaw.

*The Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East constituency includes parts of East Dunbartonshire.

Register to vote

To vote in this election you must have been registered to vote by Monday 22 May. 

Voting by post or proxy

If voting in person isn't convenient, you can choose to vote by post or by proxy. Voting by proxy means you can ask someone you trust to vote for you.

The deadline for new postal vote and postal proxy vote applications, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes was 5pm on Tuesday 23 May.

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 31 May.

Election count and results

The count for all four constituencies will be held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility. It will begin at 10pm immediately after the polls close.
