Glenboig Gartcosh link road

Construction work begins

Glasgow City Region City Deal

Construction work will start on Monday 22 May on the new Glenboig Gartcosh link road.

A drop-in information event will be held on Friday 19 May between 8.00am and 8.00pm at Glenboig Community Centre, 110 Main Street, Glenboig ML5 2RD.

The work is being taken forward by the council as part of our City Deal Infrastructure Investment Programme, and the contractor for the project is Interserve Construction Ltd. The whole project is expected to take 34 weeks.

One of the first parts of the work is to set up traffic management on Glenboig Road, from just before Glenburn Gardens for about 200m east to the end of Glenheath Drive. Traffic will be controlled by traffic lights, with traffic reduced to a single lane. This will be in place for approximately 16 weeks.

At the same time, work will continue on the new link road to Gartcosh Business Park, crossing Gartcosh Local Nature Reserve. We have put in place environmental controls to mitigate any damage to the natural environment and impact on local access, including footpath diversions.

A temporary site compound will be set up in the field adjacent to Glenburn Gardens with temporary vehicle access from Glenboig Road.

The new link road will support delivery of the residential developments and associated amenities planned for this area, supporting the Gartcosh/Glenboig Community Growth Area.
