Rent Consultation 2018-19

Every year we ask our tenants what they think of our proposed rent setting

Your views on this are important to us, so we would be grateful if you would take a few moments to complete this survey by 4 November 2017.

How your rent is spent

In 2016/17 your rent helped pay for:

  • continued investment of £250m over five years in our local homes
  • 3,108 replacement kitchens, 3,555 bathrooms, 2,552 window replacements and 2,582 new boilers
  • £42.4m was spent on carrying out 137,318 repairs
  • continued investment in the council new build programme to deliver 2,150 new homes by 2027
  • the purchase of 30 properties through the empty homes purchase scheme

This year we increased rent by 3% to an average of £61.06 per week. This average is currently the second lowest in Scotland.

Plans for the future

We have ambitious plans to significantly increase housing investment in North Lanarkshire for the benefit of current and future tenants. A higher rent increase than last year's would support the delivery of a significant number of new council homes and wider regeneration of our communities and town centres.

Future plans include:

  • Building significantly more affordable homes
  • Regenerating our town centres
  • Increasing investment to improve our current housing stock
  • Expanding our successful empty homes purchase scheme
  • Increasing investment to make our homes more energy efficient
