Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre

Who are we?
Welcome to the day care unit within Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre.

The day care team consists of three full time qualified staff members, trainees, students and volunteers.

Within this safe and friendly environment, we offer support and care to the elderly members of the community and their carers.

This service enables the members to maintain their independence by continuing to live within their own community.

Daily activities
We offer a large range of activities such as games, quizzes, singing, arts and crafts, carpet bowls, entertainment and much more.

These games aim to encourage physical movement, intellectual stimulation and social interaction.

Social events such as outings are organised by a committee consisting of group members, staff and volunteers.

To ensure that the needs of the individual are being met social work guidelines are practiced in the form of a key worker system, care plans and reviews.

The daily charge for attending day care is £4.50.

Transport to and from the centre is available for those who need it.

Admission criteria

Step 1- referral

The elderly person can be referred by his or her GP, district nurse, health visitor, home support worker, social worker, a relative, friend or even by themselves.

A referral can be done by phone, in writing or by word of mouth.

Step 2 - assessment

A member of the day care team would visit the person in their own home to complete a simple form. If the person is eligible they will be offered a place when one becomes available.

The best way to find out what goes on at Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre's Day Care is to come along and see for yourself. Old and new friends await you.
