The school is a two-storey red sandstone building completed in 1914. It occupies a prime site in the West End of the town. Being a traditionally built school the classrooms have high ceilings. There is a central hall with a high, vaulted and semi glazed roof. The area is bounded on three sides by a stone gallery with wrought iron railings. The whole area is light, airy and impressive. The central hall also acts as our gymnasium. As well as the nine classrooms there is a structured play room and resource room.

The nursery class opened in January 2002. It is managed by the head teacher as part of the primary school. The nursery accommodation consists of two bases, which are linked by an open archway, toilets, entrance and soft play area. The nursery makes use of the school hall.

Extra curricular activities play an important part in extending interest and encouraging a sense of responsibility. The support and enthusiasm of our staff and parents allow Langloan primary to offer various experiences. Senior pupils are provided with a block of swimming lessons at the Time Capsule. When suitable, field trips are arranged in conjunction with environmental studies. Visitors are invited to school to talk with pupils and show off their particular skills. Theatre visits are encouraged. Our plays allow our pupils to become personally involved. Out of school learning operates four days a week and includes tuition in football, athletics and netball.

The school sees the local community as an excellent resource to promote learning. Where appropriate the school uses local sports facilities and classes visit local places of interest. We also have good links with the local press.

Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Langloan primary normally transfer to Coatbridge Highschool.
