Holytown Community Facility
Facilities and services
Holytown Community Facility was built in 1925 under the Miners Welfare Fund (The Mining Industry Act 1920). The building was used for the miners and their families for meetings, recreation & socialising.
When the pits closed and the miners numbers dwindled the Committee signed the building over to Lanark County Council's Education Department on condition that it was used for the Community.
On the ground floor there is a large hall with a stage. The hall has a seating capacity of 200 and can be used for discos, dances etc. The backdrop to the stage is a mural painted by a local artist with the subject being Holytown through the years. A small domestic kitchen suitable for heating up only is situated next to the hall. In addition to the hall on the ground floor there are 3 rooms of different sizes which can be used for meetings, group activities and private parties. On the upper floor there are 2 small meeting rooms.
The Facility is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am - 10.30pm and is available for lets evenings and weekends by prior booking only.
