Facilities, Services & Opening Hours

Cleland Library closes at 5pm on Tuesday 20th May for a period of approximately 10-12 weeks for refurbishment. Over the period of closure the building will be transformed in to a shared community space that will house a new-look library and a social space for local sheltered housing residents.

With approximately £245K of funding from Reshaping Care for Older People, North Lanarkshire Council and CultureNL we will install new windows, heating and lighting. there will, also be disabled access at the front door, adapted public toilets, upgraded insulation, double the current provision of computers for the public and smart modern furniture.

Throughout the closure we will operate a limited service from the Senior Citizens' Centre as follows from Monday 26th May:


9.30am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

The services offered will be: Quick Choice, Returns and Reservations

Bookbug will continue on Mondays at 10.30 for toddlers and 11.30 for babies up to 18 months.

Full library services will be available from all local libraries, including Newmains, Wishaw, Craigneuk and Motherwell. The Mobile Library Service visits North Dryburgh Road on Friday mornings at 9.40 on Lyne Street and 10.05 at the Hairdressers.
