Draft Core Paths Plan

The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003places a duty on local authorities to produce a Core Paths Plan within 3 years of the Act coming into effect (by 9February 2008). The Plan will show a system of routes known as core paths that are "sufficient for the purpose of providing reasonable access throughout their area."

The North Lanarkshire Draft Core Paths Plan has been produced following two rounds of extensive consultations with land managers, national organisations, local communities and people of all ages and abilities who go walking, cycling, horse riding and canoeing within North Lanarkshire.

The plan is divided into the following key elements:

You can also view a paper copy of the plan at your nearest council office or library or you can download or request a copy of the plan by clicking on the request box on the right hand side of this page.

The closing date for comments and objections on the plan is the 3May 2008.
