The Green Link
The Green Link route is a new length of cycleway linking Strathclyde Park, Motherwell Town Centre and Ravenscraig.
|
Start and Finish:Starting in Strathclyde Country park and ending at the entrance to the new Ravenscraig development.
Distance:5km linear route with 7km of connecting footpaths.
Terrain: Mostly tarmac paths with some sections of Toptrec.
Refreshments:Various places in Motherwell.
The Green Link has a mix of some on road and mostly off road sections to keep the route as level as is possible. It is complemented by a series of paths offering the adjacent communities of North Motherwell, Orbiston, Forgewood and Calder Valley a range more local routes.
As the cycleway is to be adopted, maintenance can be given a high priority. Central Scotland Forest Trust will manage all other aspects of the project on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council.
This will include the promotion of the project through a team of two dedicated staff. It is anticipated that this approach will ensure the Green Link is an aid to regeneration locally.
This route is detailed on the SMARTways map page.
