North Lanarkshire Municipal Bank Ltd

North Lanarkshire Municipal Bank is now closed

Following the closure of the North Lanarkshire Municipal Bank (NLMB) on 30 September 2022, any remaining account holders who still have money in the bank can now contact the council directly to arrange withdrawals.

Introduction

North Lanarkshire Municipal Bank Ltd.

North Lanarkshire Municipal Bank Ltd was formed during local government reorganisation in 1996.

Although it was an entirely independent limited company governed by the Banking and Companies Acts, it was closely linked to North Lanarkshire Council. Customers can be sure of the bank's financial security because we guarantee all deposits. This is in accordance with the definition of a 'municipal bank' under Section 103 of the Banking Act 1987 prior to its repeal under SI 2001 no 3649.
