Increased tariff
As a result of increased energy, maintenance and replacement costs, the tariff for the public electric vehicle charging points in North Lanarkshire will increase from 2 May 2023. The charge covers the electricity used and operational costs of the charging points.
Following approval at a meeting of our Environment and Climate Change Committee on 9 November 2022, we introduced tariffs for the use of Electric Vehicle (EV) charge points from 4 January 2023.
Charger type | Unit rate / kWh | Maximum stay limit | Maximum stay limit |
---|---|---|---|
*Rapid Chargers (22-50kW) | £0.70 | 60 minutes | £30 overstay charge |
Fast Chargers (22kW) | £0.40 | None | None |
Standard Chargers (7kW) | £0.40 | None | None |
* The tariff and overstay charges apply to all connectors on the rapid charger, including the type 2 (22kw) connector.
Where to find electric vehicle charging points
Charging points are owned by different organisations and costs will vary. You should check the owner's website and local signage for costs. You can check charge point locations, type, charging costs and availability of our charge points on ChargePlace Scotland website.
We run three types of charging points:
- Rapid (22-50kW): Rapid chargers are ideal when a vehicle needs a substantial charge quickly, often in busy towns and cities.
- Fast (22kW): Fast chargers are ideal for when a vehicle needs a substantial charge over a period of up to three hours. This might be in residential areas for people who do not have off-street parking or close to shops and services.
- Standard (7kW): Standard chargers are ideal for charging vehicles when they can be left for longer periods of time. This might be in residential areas for people who do not have off-street parking or for commuters at Park and Ride sites.
