Do you want to become a community volunteer?

The most important thing we can all do right now to protect our communities and the NHS is to stay at home to save lives.

But we also recognise that there are people in our communities who need vital support.

The response from people across the North Lanarkshire already has been incredible and massively appreciated. It's been a huge task, but it's important that we coordinate this centrally so we can assess risk and keep movement of people down to a minimum.

If you think you could help by volunteering during these unprecedented times, please read on.

We work closely with Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) to help provide individuals and community groups with assistance.

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire is supporting registration and matching of volunteers to support local people during the COVID-19 health emergency.

You can help as a volunteer by supporting local charities who are responding. This type of work could include:

  • Providing mutual aid-type support where local groups don't exist
  • Helping call people supported by charities to ensure they are ok
  • Signposting for tasks that go beyond the work of mutual aid groups
  • Helping charities where staff are off sick and tasks can be delegated to volunteers

If you would like to volunteer to help people in your local area please register through Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire, by clicking here

Please note the Scottish Government has currently paused recruitment for the national volunteering programme, Scotland Cares.
