Community testing

Rapid coronavirus testing is available for people with and without symptoms in North Lanarkshire.

Around 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 have no symptoms but may be passing the virus on to loved ones, friends and the wider community without knowing it.

Not everyone who has coronavirus will have symptoms, so people could be spreading the disease without knowing it.

Testing for positive cases and encouraging those people to self-isolate means we have a better chance of stopping the virus spreading.

The community testing initiative, in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire, Scottish Government and the council, aims to drive down local COVID-19 rates and transmission by identifying positive cases more quickly.

Everyone can now get two free coronavirus tests every week, to stop the spread and keep us moving forward. Find out more:

You are also able to pick up home test kits from participating pharmacies, and local and regional testing sites which are listed below. To find your collection point, visit:

It is really important you remember to record your test result, even if it is negative or void. Reporting every result helps to give a better picture of the level of coronavirus in the community.

Airdrie Leisure Centre

People in North Lanarkshire who do NOT have any of the three main Covid-19 symptoms (a new continuous cough, temperature, loss or change in sense of taste or smell) are encouraged to get tested. You do not need to book and can turn up at Airdrie Leisure Centre, Motherwell St, Airdrie, ML6 7HU. LFD kits can also been collected from the site during these times.

Monday – Friday

9.30am – 12.00pm & 1pm – 4.30pm

Saturday & Sunday

9.30am – 12.00pm & 12.30pm - 2.30pm

Testing using lateral flow devices (LFD) takes less than 15 minutes and you will receive your results in around 45 minutes. Any positive cases will then be confirmed by PCR test. Anyone who receives a positive test will be asked to self-isolate.
