Fair Trade

Help us achieve Fair Trade zone status for North Lanarkshire

We want Fair Trade zone status for North Lanarkshire. This means that in all our towns and communities, everyone should know about fair trade, where to buy fair trade products and the benefits that supporting fair trade brings to farmers and their families in the developing world.

Also, when we achieve Fair Trade zone status, we will be contributing to the goal of helping to make Scotland a Fair Trade nation.

Communities and retailers play a significant role to advance the Fair Trade movement locally. By working together within the local authority area, North Lanarkshire could be credited with being a Fair Trade zone.

A Fairtrade Steering Group will be established and you are encouraged to come along the inaugural North Lanarkshire Fairtrade Zone meeting, hosted by North Lanarkshire Council, on Tuesday 30 October, 6.30pm to 8pmat the Atrium Business Centre, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge, ML5 4EF.

The aim of this group will be to ensure continued commitment to Fair Trade status within communities across North Lanarkshire and to encourage the sale of Fair Trade products in retail outlets, workplaces and community organisations.
