Advice and support for consumers

Consumer advice for residents of North Lanarkshire is now provided by government-funded Advice Direct Scotland, a telephone and online consumer advice service, which is supported by local authorities in Scotland.

Contact the Advice Direct Scotland helpline on 0808 164 6000 if you need help - a trained adviser can give you advice over the phone.

Working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council Trading Standards Service, Advice Direct Scotland provides first level, clear, practical consumer advice to help people sort out their problems and disagreements with suppliers of goods and services. Their trained advisers offer individual solutions for individual problems and information on a wide range of consumer issues

North Lanarkshire Council does not have sufficient resources to fully investigate every complaint and adopts an intelligence-led approach to enforcement of consumer protection legislation so that we can focus our work on those issues which can maximise our impact for the benefit of the community

The policy for dealing with complaints is set out in our service policy for dealing with complaints.
