Motherwell is to host Round 2 of The OVO Energy Tour Series 2018, bringing Britain's top professional cycling teams to our town.

The cyclists will compete over the pdf icon circuit [68kb] from the start/finish line on Hamilton Road, around High Road, Farm Street, Ladywell Road and Douglas Street.

As a result, these roads will be closed from 7.00am until midnight to allow the race circuit to be set up and then cleared.

During these hours, there will be no vehicular access to driveways within the circuit and we would ask residents to consider parking in adjacent roads. However, there will be no parking restrictions in place on surrounding roads.

As the circuit surrounds Orchard Medical Centre, there will be no access for vehicles to the centre from 12 noon. Arrangements have been made for pedestrian access until 6.00pm including those patients with mobility difficulties.

You can download a pdf icon leaflet [3Mb] which gives you all the information you need to know about the event. Local school pupils will have the opportunity to cycle around the circuit from 12.45pm, before Scottish Cycling host a number of amateur races from 1.50pm. The council will host a Corporate Grand Prix at3.50pm then the women's elite race starts at 5.30pm with the men's event at 7.00pm. The podium celebrations are at 8.30pm.

An activity zone will be open from 12 noon to 8.30pm at Farm Street Park and Ride, with a climbing wall, smoothie bikes and a chance to try out some specialist bikes.

A letter has been sent to local residents and a copy is available to download from this page.

We are working with the race organisers to minimise the disruption, however we would ask you to be prepared.

A number of organisations are helping us bring the Tour Series to Motherwell: Morgan Sindall, Scotland The Perfect Stage, North Lanarkshire Leisure, Clyde 1, Scottish Cycling and Suicide Prevention North Lanarkshire.
