Pupils' community spring clean achievement

Helping the local environment

Shields Glen May 2017

Pupils from Muirhouse Primary School in Motherwell collected more than 20 bags of rubbish during a spring clean.

The 30 Primary 7 children and teachers visited Shields Glen on 30 May to collect litter as part of their work towards the John Muir Discovery Award.

Staff from our Greenspace team joined the children to tell them more about the local environment and the impact of litter on wildlife.

The spring clean project was supported by the Keep Scotland Beautiful Clean Up Scotland campaign.

The John Muir Discovery Award is an environmental award scheme for people of all ages, encouraging them to connect with, enjoy and care for wild places.
