Celebrate National Playday

Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life

National Playday

On Wednesday 2nd August 2017, join us from 11am - 4pm for our annual Playday event at Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life.

Playday is the national day for play, now in its 30th year as well as a celebration of children's right to play, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children's lives.

There will be lots of fun activities to enjoy.  You can play book bingo on the mobile library and practice your skills at NL Leisure rugby inflatables.  Get down to the beat at the drumming workshops or step back in time and visit the Back to the 80's exhibition and watch some 80's children's TV or play video games!!  You can also play traditional games, for the budding artists you can draw chalk murals, have a teddy bears picnic, do some 80's inspired junk modelling, be enthralled by some fabulous storytelling or go on a treasure hunt.

It is a great day out for the whole family.

Jillian Ferrie, Chief Executive of CultureNL said, "Playday provides an ideal opportunity to come together, to celebrate, to play together and to have fun. Play is one of the most powerful and important elements in children's enjoyment of their childhood, well-being, health and development and we are delighted that NHS Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Council and NL Leisure will join with CultureNL to celebrate the child's right to play".

The car park at Summerlee gets full quickly on event days so we advise visitors to use the car park at the Time Capsule, 100 Buchanan Street, ML5 1DL. Summerlee is just a 5 minute walk away.
