A8/M8 corridor access improvements

Creating new opportunities for employment and business

We are looking to provide new strategic road infrastructure and invest in park and ride/share services along the A8/M8 transport corridor to support the growth and development of key local business locations like Eurocentral

The project complements recent investment by the Scottish Government on the strategic road network. Our investment means that residents of North Lanarkshire benefit even more from this and will provide access to new employment opportunities.

This will build on the work already done by Transport Scotland through the M8/M73/M74 Motorway improvements and the upgrade of seven miles of new motorway between Baillieston and Newhouse. In addition to this, a number of walking and cycling routes are being provided, thanks to funding from Strathclyde Passenger Transport (SPT) and Sustrans.

The project will support the local economy and enhance connections in the area by developing a more joined up transport network and support sustainable movement of people and goods.
