Eurocentral park and ride

Improving transport links for businesses and employees

A new park and ride/share facility is proposed at the location due to the proximity of Eurocentral/Maxim to the A8 and improved transport accessibility following Transport Scotland's M8 upgrade programme.

We are exploring options to provide a new facility at Eurocentral that incorporates bus stops and approx 250 car park spaces (with the potential to expand to accommodate 500 spaces).

The proposal aims to encourage a shift from private car to bus and reduce the number of car journeys on the M8. It will combine accessible parking for motorists with good public transport links into Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres. The facility will enable commuters travelling along the Glasgow to Edinburgh route to leave vehicles and transfer to a bus system for the remainder of their journey.

Creating dedicated parking for all to use.

Maxim is a privately owned business location and parking provided there is purely for the occupants of the business park.

Currently there is no formal parking for those wishing to board at Maxim and use the bus services along this route to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

There is increasing demand by bus passengers at the site and the project will provide the parking needed to support future services. It will also build on the success of the facilities at Newhouse and Harthill.

Supporting a key employment location.

The facility, importantly, will also enhance both Eurocentral and Maxim as key employment and investment sites and help preserve their high quality environment. It will improve access to the employment opportunities for local people to Maxim Business Park, the rest of Eurocentral and other key locations.

It will link with existing and future bus services to enable better public transport. Providing increased demand will lead to the development of an improved, more frequent bus service. We will be working closely with bus companies to try and make this happen and ensure it meets the requirements of a major employment site.

Project update

We are looking to identify the most suitable location for this and are working with our partners and landowners to develop the proposals further.
