Plans to improve transport interchange in Motherwell

It has enabled us to hear your views on the design and your comments are now being assessed.

We are now looking to see what amendments can be made before the scheme is finalised.

What are we planning to do?

Funding was approved by Glasgow City Region City Deal in April to progress designs for:

This will co-ordinate with the investment in Motherwell Station by ScotRail, and include:

  • An expanded bus facility on Muir Street
  • Relocated pedestrian crossing on Muir Street at Motherwell Station
  • New arrangements for taxis and disabled parking
  • Footpath and cycle path improvements
  • A new footway to link Hamilton Road with Motherwell Station
  • New layouts at Farm Street, High Road and Pollock Street car parks
  • Removal of on-street parking bays on Muir Street
