Plans to improve transport interchange in Motherwell

We would like to thank all those who responded to the consultation on the proposals last year.

It has enabled us to hear your views on the design and your comments have helped us develop the latest proposals.

We are planning to update local residents, businesses and groups on the project this summer.

What will the project do?

Funding was approved by Glasgow City Region City Deal in April to progress designs for:

This will co-ordinate with the investment in Motherwell Station by ScotRail, and include:

  • New bus shelters and passenger information
  • Relocated pedestrian crossing on Muir Street at Motherwell Station
  • A new road lane for taxis, station drop-off and disabled parking
  • A new loading bay close to the station on Muir Street
  • Removal of on-street parking bays on Muir Street
  • Footpath and cycle path improvements
  • A new footway/cycleway to link Hamilton Road with Motherwell Station
  • New layouts at Farm Street, High Road and Pollock Street car parks
