Record numbers take part in Cumbernauld 10k

Hundreds of runners take part in Cumbernauld 10k, children's races and victory mile walk

The 12th annual Cumbernauld 10k took place at Broadwood Stadium on Sunday 16 September, with a record number of people taking part in the various races.

The main 10k event was one by Jack Arnold of Bellahouston Harriers in a time of 32:43mins, while Sheena Logan of Fife Athletics Club was first female in a time of 37:32mins.

Earlier this year the Cumbernauld 10k was named Scotland's 10k of the year at the national running awards.

Douglas Holmes, event organiser, said: "The feedback has been really positive and I'd like to thank everyone who took part along with all the staff, volunteers and emergency services who helped make the day such a success."
