Applications for the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards 2019 are now open.

North and South Lanarkshire Councils have launched the search for this year's top businesses, and are inviting companies to submit applications for the ten categories of award.

"Lanarkshire has a strong local economy, which has seen an increase in employment in the last year and a regular increase in the number of businesses locating here," said Councillor Allan Graham, Convener of the Enterprise and Growth Committee at North Lanarkshire Council.

"Our annual awards are an outstanding way to celebrate the achievements of local businesses, highlighting their successes and innovations.

"They are also an opportunity for businesses themselves to review their progress, recognise the work of their staff and raise their profile.

"We would like to hear from companies who can tell us what makes them different, how they have developed and grown or how they deliver excellent customer service."

All the information businesses need to make an application is available online and it's free to enter. The award ceremony will be held at Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday 31 May when the achievements of the finalists will be celebrated.

The award categories this year are:

  • Best Business - up to 10 employees; 11-50 employees; and 51+ employees
  • Best Family Business
  • Best New Product or Service
  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Community Impact Award
  • Best Food and Drink Provider
  • Employer of the Year
  • Customer Service Award

Chair of South Lanarkshire Council's Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor John Anderson, said: "The annual awards have become a real highlight for Lanarkshire and showcase the fantastic range of businesses we have on our doorstep.

"I hope as many companies as possible take up the opportunity to enter and I look forward to finding out more about what makes them unique and deserving of an award."

The 2019 awards are sponsored by LESL, Highlander International Recycling, UK Steel Enterprise, Roadbridge UK, Business Gateway, Developing Young Workforce Lanarkshire, Hub South West, Clyde Gateway, North Lanarkshire's Working, South Lanarkshire Works 4 U and Made in Scotland.
