Praise for Coatbridge Youth Action project

National YouthLink Awards 2019 Finalists

CYA Awards 2019

Congratulations to Coatbridge Youth Action (CYA) who were finalists in the Community Based Youth Work category at this year's National YouthLink Awards.

June Ford, CLD Senior Practitioner for Youth Work, who nominated the group, said: "CYA members have co-designed a mental health project called Sound Minds and have organised the Party in the Plug event with the Coatbridge Youth Work CLD team.

"Both these projects came about by the expressed needs of young people in the locality.  I am very proud of their achievements and they have demonstrated that when young people are supported through youth work they can create positive outcomes for themselves and for their community."

The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday 13 March at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Glasgow.

Lucy Allan from CYA said "Coatbridge Youth Action have worked with such dedication, commitment and enthusiasm.  Winning this award is an incredible achievement for us and we are so glad to be recognised for our hard work and effort.

"To be nominated for the Community Based Youth Work category is an honour in itself and we are immensely proud that Scotland's National Youth Work is highlighting the work of young people.

"We could not have done it without the help of our community and youth workers and this award will make us continue to voice our ideas and change our society for the better."
