Scottish stars to race in Motherwell

The OVO Energy Tour Series - 14 May

Tour Series 2019

Home favourites Katie Archibald and Neah Evans will race in Motherwell this spring as part of The OVO Energy Tour Series cycle races.

The pair will race for a Scottish national team alongside Anna Shackley and Zoe Watters in the Motherwell event on Tuesday 14 May.

"Although we'll be all the way in May, Motherwell will be my first road race of the 2019 season," said Archibald. "What a treat to be at home, in a race I've had good fortune in in previously, riding with Scottish Cycling teammates. I'm looking forward to both rounds and some hard racing."

Olympic champion Archibald is no stranger to the OVO Energy Tour Series, having won the Motherwell race in 2016, adding to her other individual victories in Edinburgh (2014) and Stoke-on-Trent (2014 and 2016).

Evans, who won two medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, raced in the Motherwell and Aberdeen events last May, helping her then Storey Racing squad to the team prize in the Granite City.

Commenting on the races, Evans said: "The last time I rode for Scotland was at the Commonwealth Games so it's very exciting to be back and in front of a home crowd this time. The Tour Series events are always action packed, exciting races and I am very much looking forward to starting my road season off with them."

Archibald and Evans won't be the only top Scots in action at Motherwell and Aberdeen, with Stirling duo Rhona Callander and Jenny Holl due to race for defending champions Team Breeze. Commonwealth Games medallists John Archibald and Mark Stewart are also set to feature in Ribble Pro Cycling squad's in the men's competition.
