Couples invited to Golden Wedding Celebrations

Couples celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary this year are being invited to a special celebration to mark the landmark occasion.

The Provosts of North and South Lanarkshire Councils will jointly host a Golden Wedding Reception on the afternoon of Monday, 16 September 2019in the Concert Hall, Civic Centre, Motherwell.

North Lanarkshire Provost Jean Jones said: "Fifty-years together is a remarkable achievement and certainly one worth celebrating.

"1969 was a truly historic year, with man first stepping foot on the moon, Concorde was first tested John Lennon and Yoko Ono were also married in this year.

"Our joint reception provides an opportunity for you to share with some of the other couples your own memories from what was a really momentous year."

If you are celebrating your Golden Wedding this year and would like to attend, please apply in writing by Monday, 15 July 2019 to Irene Lamond, Assistant Admin & Members' Services Manager, North Lanarkshire Council, Civic Centre, Windmillhill Street, Motherwell, ML1 1AB. A photocopy of your marriage certificate should also be enclosed.

You also have the option of sending a wedding photo which will be used as part of a presentation and in the souvenir programme. Please put your name and address on the back of the photograph which will be returned to you.

It is regretted that invitations will be limited to Golden Wedding couples only.

Other family members cannot be included unless there is a requirement for their assistance.This should be made clear when applying.
