North Lanarkshire Council Ward 14 Thorniewood

By-election - Thursday 19 September

A by-election was held in the Thorniewood ward of North Lanarkshire Council on Thursday 19 September, following the resignation of Councillor Hugh Gaffney.

Scottish Labour Party candidate Norah Mooney was elected to serve as a councillor in this ward.

First preference votes received by each candidate was:

  • Eve Rowan Cunnington, Scottish National Party (SNP) - 1,202
  • Rosemary McGowan, Scottish Green Party - 46
  • Norah Mooney, Scottish Labour Party - 1,362
  • Lorraine Nolan, Scottish Conservative and Unionist - 296
  • Colin Robb, Scottish Liberal Democrats - 168

Total - 3,074

The percentage poll was 29%.
