Extra curricular activities are available within the school. These vary from session to session. At present the school has a recorder group, an art club and a football team run by members of staff. A lunchtime Bible club is also run by a group of parents. Handball, gymnastics, athletics and tri-golf clubs are run after school by our sports co-ordinator. The school also takes part in North Lanarkshire's Sports Academy. Activities which take place at Kilsyth Academy after school, have included this session, gymnastics and tag rugby.

At Kilsyth primary we have strong home and school links. Newsletters are sent home to parents notifying them of coming events. This includes information on school events, parents' evenings, Parent Teacher Association meetings, holidays etc. Parents are encouraged to take an active part in school life. Examples of this include helping primary one/two during structured play activities, running the school's savings bank scheme and helping on educational visits.

Every opportunity is taken to involve the school in local community life. The school choir has taken part in local church services. Senior citizens are invited to school to take part in the school Nativity service. They also receive parcels of food from our Harvest service. An active part is taken in Kilsyth civic week and other community events. Visits are made to school by the local police, fire service, road safety officers and local tradesmen in connection with our local studies programme. The school has taken part in campaigns run by the local community, for example, anti-vandalism and anti-litter campaigns.

Pupils normally transfer from primary school to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 years, so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Kilsyth primary school normally transfer to Kilsyth Academy.
