Heritage Way, Coatbridge - Proposed Environmental Improvements

North Lanarkshire Council, in terms of Section 37 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 and Section 6 of the Roads (Traffic Calming) (Scotland) Regulations 1994 and the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, hereby gives notice of its intention to install environmental improvement measures on Heritage Way, Coatbridge to address road safety concerns raised by the local community.

The proposal is to extend the existing footway at the north side of the northern access to the Summerlee car park, thereby creating a 3.5 metres wide exit lane which will be marked as right turn only. We further propose to install two 1.75 metres by 1.90 metres precast concrete speed cushions on Heritage Way adjacent to the proposed footway extension which will reduce the speed of vehicles entering the residential area. Appropriate road markings and signage will inform road users of the new car park access arrangements and the proposed speed cushions
