Transport strategy

Robust transport networks play a significant part in delivering our ambition to make North Lanarkshire the place to live, learn, work, invest and visit.

The strategy sets out how we intend to deliver national objectives at a local level. There are four objectives within the strategy:

  • to stimulate business and the economy and develop North Lanarkshire as an attractive place to invest, work and do business
  • to provide equal opportunities and enhance the choice, accessibility and availability of transport, particularly for those in deprived areas and those with limited access to the transport network
  • to promote safety in the community and enhance actual perceived safety when travelling on the transport network
  • to protect North Lanarkshire's natural built environment and to improve the health of its population
