You can get a copy marriage certificate from any registration office in Scotland. We can only issue certificates for marriages registered in Scotland.
The fee for a certificate is £15 plus postage. If you buy a certificate within one month of registration the fee is £10 plus postage. After one month of registration the fee will be reduced to £10 plus postage if you can produce a certificate at the time of applying. Photocopies are acceptable.
You do not need to come to the registration office in person to get the certificate.
You can apply:
- by phone – you can pay by credit or debit card
- in writing – you can pay either by postal order or by cheque (if you apply by post please include details of the address where the certificate has to be posted to)
- in person – you can pay by cash or by any of the payment types above
When you apply you must give the full names of all the people on the certificate along with the date and place of the marriage.
