The Business Growth Fund (BGF) is a competitive, discretionary grant fund targeted at new and existing SMEs (less than 250 employees) to support the strategic, long term sustainability and growth of the business.
The impact of the project seeking support on business turnover and job creation is of particular importance. The BGF scheme can contribute towards project-related costs associated with capital expenditure, infrastructure improvements, training, consultancy, and attending trade shows/exhibitions. It is not geared towards addressing working capital requirements.
To be considered, applicant businesses must have been actively trading for at least 12 months (at the time of application).
BGF grants can provide up to 50% towards eligible project costs (ex VAT), up to a maximum grant award of £50,000 to fund specific activities to help businesses expand and diversify their operations. Businesses seeking grant of £10,000 or more must be able to demonstrate how they propose to ‘give something back’ to North Lanarkshire by committing to additional activities which will benefit local communities or businesses.
Projects that have already started/purchases that have already been paid for (before a decision on the application) are ineligible. The grant must be claimed within 12 months of the award date, and only after the project has been completed and all suppliers have received payment in full.
