Community Safety Strategy

With North Lanarkshire Partnership, we have launched a new community safety strategy to make the area a safer place to live, work, and visit.

Partners include council staff working with colleagues from Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Lanarkshire, and local organisations and local people who all helped to shape the new strategy.

A key focus in preventing problems before they happen and making sure public services are working together to protect residents.

Community Safety Strategy 2025-2030

The definition of community safety has changed over the years and has become increasingly broad and far reaching. Initially focussed on the prevention and reduction of crime and antisocial behaviour, community safety now encompasses all aspects that help people to be safe and feel safe in their communities, including important issues such as gender-based violence, community justice, serious organised crime, counterterrorism, home safety and fire safety amongst others.
