Tenants have always enjoyed meeting in person and attending our various engagement events. This allows us to connect with our tenants and enables them to share their views about where they live. By considering these views, we have developed a series of tenant participation events.
We recognise that our tenants would like to see more events within their communities. Taking a locality-based approach allows us to become more accessible to tenants and residents while building stronger relationships within communities.
We want to hear your views on which events you would like to see in your area. Get in touch to share your views by emailing TenantParticipation@northlan.gov.uk or calling 07890 438431 where you can leave a message and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Food for Thought - Understanding the Housing (Scotland) Bill 2025
In October 2025, the Housing (Scotland) Bill made its way through its final stages in the Scottish Parliament, and will soon become the latest Housing Act for Scotland.
First introduced by the then Minister of Tenants Rights, Patrick Harvie, it was initially seen as a Green Party Bill, but has since been taken up by the SNP. Over 1,000 amendments have been lodged as it has progressed through parliamentary debates. It has become a wide-ranging piece of legislation for both the social and private rental sectors, and is the most significant change to housing law for many years.
Key features of the legislation focus on:
- Homelessness prevention and a review of the intentionality test homelessness assessments.
- Expanding tenants’ rights and introducing potential for rent controls for tenants in the private rented sector.
- The Scottish equivalent of Awaab’s law, introducing requirements for landlords responding to damp and mould complaints.
- Creation of an independent appeals process for decisions made by the Scottish Housing Regulator.
Helen Barton of North Star Consulting and Research will work with North Lanarkshire tenants to explain the main elements of the Bill, to discuss how this will impact landlords and tenants in North Lanarkshire, and to outline what tenants can expect to happen next.
Date: Wednesday 26th November 2025
Time: 11am – 1pm
The session will be followed by a light lunch.
