We use a points weighting system to decide our rents.
From April 2020, the way we determine your rents changed.
It is now based solely on:
- property size - number of bedrooms
- property type - flat, maisonette, terraced, detached
Find out more about this new rent structure.
Rent levels vary with the points value that is assigned against each property size/property type combination. This ensures that tenants in smaller houses with fewer amenities pay lower rents than those in larger houses with more.
In addition, a 20% premium is applied to the rents of all new houses we build. This reflects their superior features and brings new-build rents more into line with other local housing providers.
How do our rents compare?
We set our rent increase for 2020/21 at 5%. This means an average rent increase of £3.34 per week from 6 April 2020. The average weekly rent in North Lanarkshire of £70.77 is fourth lowest among Scottish councils and approximately 7.73% below the national local authority average (£76.67).
