The Plan

North Lanarkshire's first Local Development Plan

NLLDP Businesses

We are in the final stages of preparing the first North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan (The Plan).

Once Adopted it will replace the North Lanarkshire Local Plan. It will guide the outcome of every Planning Application following it's Adoption.

The Plan lays out in detail what we can change and what we can't to our spaces and places. It provides guidance about where we should locate new homes, places of work, transport, community facilities etc.

The Proposed Plan Public Consultation ended at 4.45pm on Monday 20 March 2017 and we cannot accept any further submissions.

Plan Process

As part of The Plan process we are required to produce a pdf icon Development Plan Scheme (2019) [574kb] which sets out the timetable for the production of The Plan and carry out a Strategic Environmental Assessment considering its environmental implications.

Preparing The Plan is one of our statutory responsibilities, with legislation and guidance laid out by The Scottish Government on how it should be prepared. Detailed information on the Plan Process is available.

We are also required to produce a pdf icon Stakeholder Engagement Strategy [796kb] and pdf icon Participation Statement [283kb] setting out how you can get involved.
