Building You a Better Future - Regeneration Proposals for your area

Information for residents

The first stage of consultation is now beginning on the council's ambitious plans for the demolition of its 48 residential tower blocks over the next 20 years.  These plans form part of our strategy to provide better homes, regenerate town centres and create jobs, while investing around half a billion pounds across North Lanarkshire.

The flats identified in the first phase are:

  • Merrick Court / Cheviot Court / Pentland Court, Northburn Place, Airdrie
  • Fintry/Tinto/Sidlaw/Nevis/Pentland/Cheviot/Ettrick/Campsie/Etive/Striven/Killin,Shawhead,
  • Dunbeth Court/Highcoats/Jackson Court, Coatbridge
  • Allershaw Tower and Birkshaw Tower and council managed low rise flats, Gowkthrapple
  • Allan/Coursington and Draffen Towers, Motherwell

We want to gather a clear understanding of people's needs for future housing in their towns and communities, and all individual views of our residents will be fully considered.

Residents living in the towers and flats above will have received a newsletter providing additional information on the proposals.  A survey is attached to the newsletter so residents have the opportunity to provide feedback on the plans. These should be returned no later than 30 April 2018. The online survey can be found at:

We have also arranged a series of open days where residents living in these towers or flats can come along and speak to us about the proposals. Meetings will also take place with tenants and residents groups in the affected areas.

Please don't hesitate to contact us at: should you have any further enquiries.
