We sometimes need to close core paths to protect the public from danger or to allow essential work to take place.

Notification of temporary path closure through Palacerigg Country Park
Muirhall Energy is constructing an underground electricity cable route on behalf of Scottish Power for the consented Greengairs East Wind Farm site with planning consent reference 19/01292/S42.
The core path (marked red on the map) will be considered an active works site for a 12-week period, during which there will be groundworks and frequent moving/relocating of plant and machinery. As such, under Section 6(1)(a) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, access rights will be temporarily excluded from this area until the works are complete.
The works are due to start on 1 October 2022 and aim to complete by the end of December 2022.
The diversion (marked purple on the map) is via Palacerigg Country Park.

Core path 275 - Barons Haugh
There has been severe path erosion to Core Path 275 caused by flooding from the river Clyde.
Under section 15 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 North Lanarkshire Council, has in the interest of public safety agreed to the temporary closure of this path.
A recommended diversion is shown in blue on the map.

There has been path scouring and surface damage to part of Core Path 193, marked RED on the map.
Under Section 15 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 North Lanarkshire Council has, in the interest of public safety, agreed to a temporary closure of this section of path. A recommended diversion is marked BLUE on the map.
