National Entitlement Card (NEC)

Access services through Scotland's smart card

The Scottish Government, Young Scot, local councils and other organisations have worked together to offer citizens across Scotland the National Entitlement Card (NEC). This is a nationally recognised smart card, which makes it easier for citizens to access services.

Nationally, the NEC is currently used by elderly and disabled people to access the free Scotland-wide travel scheme and for young people to access reduced-priced travel, Young Scot discounts and the national rewards scheme for young people.

You can apply for a card, request a replacement, update your photograph or renew an expired/expiring card online at getyournec.scot.
