Call for Ideas and Sites - 2026

The Call for Sites for the next North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan (2028 to 2038) has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who submitted a site for consideration.

The Call for Sites provided an opportunity for landowners, developers, community organisations, businesses and other interested parties to promote land for development, regeneration or protection through the next Local Development Plan.

We are now reviewing all submissions received and undertaking the initial stages of the site assessment process.

All submitted sites are being reviewed against our Site Assessment Methodology and available evidence.

Where additional information is required to support the assessment of a site, we will contact the site promoter directly and provide details of the information required and how it should be submitted.

Any requested supporting information must be submitted by 4 December 2026 to allow the site to progress through the assessment process.

Failure to provide requested information by this date may affect our ability to fully assess the site's suitability, deliverability and effectiveness for inclusion in the Local Development Plan.

• All submitted sites will be reviewed and assessed against National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4), infrastructure requirements, environmental considerations and local development needs.
• Sites will be considered alongside evidence gathered to support preparation of the Local Development Plan.
• Information on submitted sites may be shared with key agencies and consultees to inform the assessment process.
• Sites will be appraised and prioritised based on their suitability, deliverability and alignment with the council's Ambition priorities.
• The outcome of the assessment process will help inform the preparation of the Proposed Local Development Plan.

Following consultation with key agencies and stakeholders, submitted sites and associated information will be published as part of the plan preparation process. Specific timescales will depend on the number of submissions received and the time required to complete assessments.

At the appropriate stage of the process, we will publish a map showing the site identification number and site name (as issued by us), the submitting organisation or individual, and the proposed land use.
