Active Schools

Active Schools is a sportscotland led programme designed to get "More Children, More Active, More Often".

The Active Schools Programme has transformed the way young people engage with sport and physical activity.

As part of a national network, our job is to motivate and inspire young people to get active and stay active. Our main goal is to give all children and young people access to high-quality extra-curricular sport. We offer a wide range of sports and activities, to ensure that children get the chance to try out something new.

We provide children with these opportunities by working with teachers, schools and sports clubs, but we also need help from lots of volunteers.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in the success of all Active Schools initiatives. These volunteers dedicate an incredible amount of hours to the programme, helping to make sure that every child is given access to a broad range of experiences. This develops pathways between sport clubs and other community organisations, helping pupils to continue their participation in sport outside the school gates.
