This is nutritional guidance and food standards for early years childcare providers in Scotland. An updated version of the 'Setting the Table' guidelines is due for publication after the review of recent scientific evidence. The aim is to ensure that children aged 0 to 5 in childcare settings across Scotland are offered healthy and nutritious meals, snacks and drinks.
The increase in ELC hours will use four key principles as outlined within 'A Blueprint for 2020: the Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare in Scotland':
- quality
- flexibility
- accessibility
- affordability
