Residential childcare

We manage five children's houses located across North Lanarkshire.

Our houses offer care and protection to children and young people generally aged 12 to 18, who cannot, for a variety of reasons, live in the community with their parents, extended family or substitute families.

We contribute to a multi-agency approach in the care and protection of vulnerable and sometimes exploited children and young people.

The police, health authority, learning and leisure services are major partners in this multi-agency approach which aims to ensure a coordinated response to the care and protection of young people.

This approach, overseen by the child protection committee, is underpinned by legislation included within The Children (Scotland) Act 1995, Children’s Hearing (Scotland) Act 2011 and Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 supported by operational procedures and guidelines.
