Corporate Resilience Team

The Corporate Resilience Team leads the Council's emergency preparedness and resilience activities. Working across council services and with partner agencies, we help ensure that North Lanarkshire is prepared for a wide range of incidents and disruptions.

Our responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Emergency planning and preparedness
• Co-ordination of the council's response to emergencies and major incidents
• Business continuity planning and organisational resilience
• Training and exercising emergency plans
• Supporting recovery following emergencies and major incidents
• Working with local, regional and national resilience partnerships

The Corporate Resilience Team provides a central point of co-ordination for the Council during emergencies and major incidents.

This includes supporting Council services and partner agencies by:

• Co-ordinating the Council's emergency response arrangements
• Activating emergency and business continuity plans where required
• Supporting recovery efforts following an incident

The team works with council services and partner organisations to help reduce the impact of emergencies on communities, businesses and infrastructure. 

Effective preparation helps ensure that the council can continue delivering critical services during disruption.

The Corporate Resilience Team works with services across the council to:

• Develop and maintain emergency plans
• Support business continuity planning
• Identify and assess risks in line with the National Risk Register add resource for 2026 register
• Promote resilience across communities and organisations within North Lanarkshire
• Test plans through training and exercises
• Capture lessons identified from incidents and exercises

Communities play an important role in preparing for emergencies. The Community Partnership Team supports initiatives that encourage individuals, community groups and organisations to become better prepared for severe weather, flooding, power outages and other disruptions.
