As part of our ongoing support for communities and a commitment to equality, we provide free period products in over 100 locations.
To make this possible, we work in partnership with community planning groups, local organisations and the Scottish Government.
The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 is the world's pioneering legislation that ensures period product are free for anyone who needs them. It requires local authorities and education providers to make these products available in a way that respects dignity and choice.
Locating Free Period Products
We currently provide free period products at more than 100 locations across our communities. We are committed to making these products available in even more places especially in public-facing Council buildings that our community members use such as:
- Leisure and sport centres
- Community centres and hubs
- Libraries
- Health centres
We work closely with eight key anchor partner organisations to provide both reusable and single-use period products. Through them, we also deliver products to the homes of our community members who have limited access or mobility.
We also provide free period products in primary and high schools for students to access easily. These products are also available year round at community locations.
