Promoting equal access to menstrual health, products and support across North Lanarkshire.
Across our communities, free period products are available in schools and public community spaces.
Our annual Period Dignity Week continues to grow in reach and impact with last year's programme successfully engaging over 1,000 community members across nine localities increasing awareness of free period products access and strengthening local partnerships. See full details from last years activity.
This year, our focus is on deepening community engagement and ensuring information and products reach people in everyday local spaces.
Period dignity and why it matters
Period dignity is the right of all individuals to manage their periods in a healthy, affordable and stigma-free way. It means having reliable access to:
- appropriate menstrual products,
- clean and private facilities and
- menstrual health education
Period dignity matters because it directly affects participation in education, employment and daily life. Our annual Period Dignity Week highlights this impact by:
- creating space for awareness raising,
- challenging stigma and
- strengthening access across our communities
It reinforces that period dignity is a shared responsibility and essential to wellbeing and equality for all.
